Examples of what may be on offer for children's summer workshops 2012,

Children’s Drawing and Painting
(Wonders of the World) with Candida Powell-Williams

Set sail for four days of artistic adventures. Each child will invent a flying machine to travel around the world. Along the way we will develop drawing skills and investigate colour by painting the beauty of great architecture and landscapes. We will also imagine the Hanging Gardens of Babylon through collages and explore clay sculpture by turning ourselves into ancient statues.

Children’s Papier Maché Hybrids with Cleo Harrington

Students will have the opportunity to develop wonderfully surreal creatures out of papier-maché, recycled materials, fabrics and magazines. First we will use a fun brainstorm session to create sketches and paintings for our creatures. Cleo will demonstrate simple sculptural techniques and the class will paint the backdrops for their creatures.

Children’s Mosaics with Jackie Mwanza

In this fun class the children will work on at least three projects using mosaic tiles. These will range from butterflies; self portraits; sea-horses, or any animal they wish to create. There will also be an opportunity to make a gift object for a parent or grandparent such as a mirror or front door numbers.

Children’s Painting & Pottery with Katherina Kittnarova

“We’re off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz”- the children will follow the story of Dorothy through the Munchkin Country and create their own Wizard, Wicked Witch or Scarecrow. All sculpture will be brightly painted and glossed to be taken home.
