	Diploma in Fine Art
	This is an advanced course leading to our own diploma of fine art. An outside moderator from a leading university or Art College will act as an independent critic and ajudicator of the candidate's work. Lectures in Art History and museum visits will support and underpin the creative development of the candidate. Each term written reports by the student’s tutors will enable the principal and our head of Diploma studies to judge the progress and direction of each student's work. Students will be expected to research and write on the cultural context of their studies. The course is designed to enable students to develop their skills in painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture. With these essential 'tools' of fine art the student should be able to build an individual approach and begin to find their own voice or expression. The aim of the course is to aid the gradual development and the creativity of the student to the extent they are able to begin their own professional life, as an artist or go on to continue their work in one of the leading art colleges. The diploma can also be the means of simply consolidating and focusing one's experience of art for its own sake —which is of course the process or road that all artists continue to go down, to quote Picasso: 'I am still learning'. Our Diploma course is normally just six terms with additional workshops. Individual programmes can be arranged to suit a student’s other commitments. Diploma course fees Five classes per week for three terms plus our Art History course which includes museum visits and special critiques of the work done by our diploma students. Total fee per academic year of £3450 which includes all reports and tutorials.
