| Morning Printmaking and Etching 9:30am-12:30pm (Morning Class) Theresa Pateman £185 This course will explore the practicalities of printmaking and how it relates to drawing. The many ways in which a print can be produced will provide the students with a fascinating journey and continuous learning possibilities. Whether the results are found by accident or design, the medium of print has a natural capacity for spontaneity and surprise. You will be shown how to produce work using the techniques of etching, dry point, collograph and monoprint. Please bring drawings, rubber gloves, brushes and an apron. Painting Matters 10-1pm Nigel Caple £175 This class will consist of different subject matter and encourage a variety of skill. The main subjects to be studied throughout the academic year will be: still life, fundamentals of drawing and colour, landscape, and imaginative composition. Aspects of Japanese design and calligraphy will also be explored in order to broaden students techniques and approaches to their painting. Pottery 9:30am-12:30pm (TBA) £165 Students will learn various hand-building methods, including slab-building, coiling, press-moulding and tilemaking. There will be opportunities to experiment with coloured slips, using the decorating techniques of masking, wax-resist and slip-trailing. Exploring Painting and Drawing 10am-1pm Eithne Healy, Level: Advanced £175 In this intensive course, the many aspects of drawing and painting will be explored through a series of projects, gallery visits, sketchbooks, still life and the figure. Students will be encouraged to develop a personal visual language and response to their subject. By the end of the course students should have a confident and unique body of work. Afternoon Printmaking and Etching 2:00-5:00pm (Afternoon Class) Theresa Pateman £185* This course will explore the practicalities of printmaking and how it relates to drawing. Drawing for The Absolute Beginner 2-5pm Eithne Healy, Level: Beginners £175 This course is designed for the beginner with little or no experience needed. We will look at the many aspects of drawing, ranging from mark making as an end in itself, to the more conventional/ classic approaches of proportion and per spective. The aim of the course is to equip the student with basic drawing skills and to encourage a confident personal visual language in a lively studio environment. Life Painting and Drawing 2pm-5pm Vincent Milne £190 This course emphasizes the continuing importance of the human figure in art today. There will be a three week paint ing pose where you will learn how to achieve an overall structured composition, a sense of mass and how to locate the shape and contours of the model. You will be encouraged to develop a confident and inventive approach to paint handling and the use of colour. Evening Beginners Please 6.30-9:30pm Ake Arnerdal £175 This class is designed for the absolute beginner. It will introduce you to a range of materials. You will be shown the basics of both drawing and painting, through a series of projects, which will develop your practical skills. The course underlines the importance of observation and its relation to expression and creativity. Life Drawing 6.30-9:30pm Vincent Milne £190 This course will explore both classical and expressive ways of drawing the figure. Most classes will begin with a series of quick sketches, to achieve a more fluid response to the figure. Before making a more detailed study of the model; you will be taught traditional skills of measuring, and be introduced to mass, tone and shape relationships. You can work in a variety of materials.
