Morning

Life Drawing (Adults and 16+)
10am-12:30pm

Drawing from the figure has always been essential to the development of artists as a way to improve their ability to express form and structure. This course will work towards developing your confidence by examining the basics of drawing, using a range of techniques to explore form, structure and space. Materials: charcoal, pencil and paper.

Junior Art Club (6-10 years)
10:30am-12:30pm
Nigel Caple  £160
This class is for the younger age group. Through general projects around a theme, the children produce their own individual work. They will learn basic skills in drawing and painting from both observation and imagination.

Junior Art Club (10-13 years)
10:30am-12:30pm Ake Arnerdal

This course gives young artists the opportunity to explore and develop their creativity whilst having fun. Students will work with different themes and in different variations of media such as: painting, drawing, collage, photo, etc.

Basic Drawing
10am-12:30pm
Derek Ogbourne  £165
This course will cover all aspects of drawing for the beginner. Working sometimes from what we see and other times from what we imagine we will learn how to use line in an informative and imaginative way. How to draw things as they appear, and how to manipulate what we see to say something else. We will try a bit of Abstraction, Impressionism, Expressionism and Surrealism etc. Materials: pencil, charcoal.

Afternoon

Children's Pottery
1.30pm-3.30pm

Children are invited to explore their creativity through clay. They will learn a variety of hand-building and finishing techniques through individual and group work. Projects will be set, but children's ideas are always welcome.  

Open Painting
1-4pm
Wynn Jones and Nigel Caple  £175
This class offers students who have different approaches to painting the opportunity to work together The class will occasionally work from a model. We will explore varied and contrasting ideas that embrace both abstract and representational approaches. Subjects will be suggested and from time to time the class may work together on a set theme. An awareness of 20th Century developments in colour/space, form and imagery will be important in the development of each student's work. Materials: oils or acrylics.

Printmaking and Etching
1:30-4:30pm
Emiko Aida  £185
This course will explore the practicalities of printmaking and how it relates to drawing. The many ways in which a print can be produced provide a fascinating journey and continuous learning possibilities. Whether the results are found by accident or design the medium of print has a natural capacity for spontaneity and surprise. You will be shown how to produce work using the techniques of etching, dry point, collograph and monoprint.

Portraiture
1:30-4pm
Desmond Healy  £180
The class will work from the portrait model, with two week poses, using a variety of media. Students will be guided through the process of building a structured figure in space with the use of tone, starting with a limited palette. The course will go on to work on the balance of likeness and structure within a portrait painting.
