| Morning Mosaics 9:30am-12:30pm (Morning Class) Jackie Mwanza £180 In this course beginners will gain a basic understanding of mosaic processes, while the experienced student can continue to explore mosaics as a creative medium, experimenting with a variety of materials. There is a cost of £12.00, to be paid to the tutor to cover materials. Please bring a pair of tile nippers. Watercolours: Landscape and Still Life 10am-1pm John Crossland £165 John Crossland reprises his popular class. The course is based on free use of 'wet-into-wet' technique as well as dry washes. However, students will be introduced to the medium's varied and fascinating applications, starting with familiarisation of principles of tone and composition. The work of Singer Sargent and Winslow Homer will be studied and worked from. Mixed Media Collage - Landscape 10am-1pm (Morning Class) Krystyna Shackleton Dzieszko £175 This course considers new ways of approaching landscape and other subjects creatively. You will work from your own sketches and photographs, with occasional sessions working from local landscape. Please bring at least two photographs with an A4 colour photocopy of each and sketches. Focus will be on developing ideas into painting, combining wet and dry media; pencil, wash, pastel, & acrylic. Beginners Drawing and Painting 10am-1pm Jenny Scott £170 This course will cover ideas in drawing that are fundamental to the art of picture making. Using a variety of motifs a different idea will be studied each week which will aid and develop your observational and creative skills. As the course progresses you will be introduced to colour theory and painting. Materials: Charcoal, and oils. Life Painting and Drawing 2-5pm Jenny Scott £190 A life pose will be sustained over several weeks. Formal ideas such as measurement, composition, colour temperature and tone will be taught, encouraging students to develop their observational skills and thus edit the scene according to the expressive requirements of their paintings. Fundamental Skills in Painting 2-5pm Nigel Caple £165 Learn how to develop your skills in both painting and drawing which will enable you to produce paintings in either figurative or non-figurative ways. We will focus on different approaches to observation and imaginative work. Classes will be structured around a variety of projects designed to develop your abilities and confidence with composition and design and colour working in acrylics. Evening Open Painting Studio 6:30-9:30pm Nigel Caple £175 This class will give students the opportunity to develop their individual practice in painting and drawing. As well as offering a more challenging and diverse look at landscape, interiors and imaginative themes. Both abstract and representational approaches will be encouraged. Acrylic paint is recommended. Jewellery Making and Design 6:30-9:30pm Drew Perridge £185* Complete beginners can learn how to design and make their own jewellery. Basic techniques will be covered including saw piercing, filing, soldering, texturing, and the forming of metal. Brass and copper will be used initially moving onto silver. as confidence grows. Techniques will be shown by demonstration. Portraiture and Life Painting 6:30-9:30pm Mary Treherne £180 This course will explore both life painting and portraiture. The class will begin with rapid drawings and proceed with longer poses before starting the paintings. Oils or acrylics can be used. *Includes costs of basic materials, but not precious metals. < Back to List of Classes |
